There are two types of PV solar panel systems, we offer both. The difference is in the type of inverters used. Both types connect to building's main power and grid, avoid the need for batteries, and allow the user sell extra power back to the utility in areas where net-metering is allowed. Deciding which type to use is simple. See sample solar PV kits here.
Micro inverters have the advantage of resisting shade. Panels connected in series to a central inverter will all drop their production to the level of the lowest producing panel. So if one panel is affected by shade, it hurts the entire string of panels. Using micro inverters eliminates this problem. Micro inverters may cost a little more but pay for themselves quickly under partial shade conditions. When there is full sun and no shade problems, the customer can save on installation time and system costs by using a central string inverter.
String Inverter PV System Kits - in this system one or more central inverters handle the entire system. If the location of the panels will get full unobstructed sun all day, then you can save time and money by using a central string inverter kit.
Micro Inverter PV Systems Kits - in this system each panel has its own small inverter attached to the panel. This system costs a little more and takes slightly longer to install. The main benefit of a micro inverter system its ability to resist shade problems. If the panel location has a chimney, nearby tree, or obstruction that casts shadow across any part of the PV array, select the micro inverter system kit. See detailed solar micro inverter info
Just a quick note - SPP PV technical support might be different from what you get elsewhere, and is one more thing sets our contractor packages apart from the "mail order" solar kits you can order online. Our support team includes highly experienced solar engineers, NABCEP certified PV installers, and an on-staff licensed master electrician. These factors make our low-cost products an even greater value.
We will be happy to help you decide the best approach for your requirements and situation.
